Marnie is passionate about building cities that work for everyone.


She has worked in multiple global cities over the past two and a half decades including Sydney, Toronto, New York, Vancouver and Athens – in the areas of urban planning and policy, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and government relations, bringing national

Marnie is passionate about building cities that work for everyone.


She has worked in multiple global cities over the past two and a half decades including Sydney, Toronto, New York, Vancouver and Athens – in the areas of urban planning and policy, strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and government relations, bringing national and international coalitions and networks together to advocate for local solutions to global issues.  


Her extensive background in municipal government and the non-profit sector includes experience with urban policy files including climate adaptation and mitigation, rapid transit, sustainable transportation, affordable housing and refugee integration.


Marnie has worked with Mayors, Members of Parliament and the United States Congress, and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Marnie is the founding Advisory Board Chair of Ecogenia — the first NGO in Greece that is mobilizing young people and resources to accelerate localized climate action through the civic service model. 


She is a Member of the Simon Fraser University Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies, as well as an Associate with the Sim

She is a Member of the Simon Fraser University Stavros Niarchos Foundation Centre for Hellenic Studies, as well as an Associate with the Simon Fraser University Centre for Dialogue.


Marnie has also been a volunteer with The HOME Project — a non-profit organization providing shelter for unaccompanied refugee children in Athens, Greece.

  • Marnie works with Resilient Cities Catalyst Europe leading an Athens community energy transition project.

  • She has been a strategic communications and partnerships advisor for the Pacific Coast Collaborative — west coast climate leaders building a low-carbon economy.
  • Marnie provided strategic communications and community engagement support to the British Columbia provincial government for the COVID-19 Vaccination Program. 
  • Marnie was part of the 2019 inaugural EIT Climate-KIC Greece Pioneers into Practice Programme — a European Union (EU) climate leadership program working to create innovative new products and services to boost the low-carbon economy.
